Cerberus & Company, Insurance Services providing accident and claims investigation for all insurance lines, claims consulting, adjusting services and expert witness services regarding claims handling of U. S. Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Act matters. Claims experience includes, Vessel liability matters (Protection & Indemnity claims involving crew, cargo, pier damage, passenger, longshore worker, harbor worker and vessel repair), U. S. Longshore & Harbor Workers Compensation Act claims, State Workers’ Compensation claims, General Liability claims, Automobile and Truck Liability claims, Cargo claims and Hull & Machinery claims. Our company has been designated as the Special Investigations Unit for fraud as defined under the California Labor Code.

Various positions within American President Lines, Ltd. Risk Management and Claims Departments involving claims management, claims and insurance auditing, overall reserve analysis and cost allocation.

As Liability Claims Manager was responsible for the resolution of U. S. Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act claims, Worldwide Property Damage Claims, Jones Act Claims, General Liability Claims (Worldwide), Automobile and Trucking Liability Claims (emphasis on interchanged intermodal equipment), Crew (Jones Act) asbestosis claims litigation, Hull & Machinery Claims, Cargo Claims, Nationwide State Workers’ Compensation Claims as liaison with our underwriter, and Vessel Liability Claims unrelated to cargo or crew claims which arise from the operation of vessels worldwide (passengers, pier damage, etc.).

As Risk Management Auditor conducted audits of the claims service provided by our underwriters and our in house claims staff for all insurance lines. In addition addressed overall insurance reserve requirements, prepared budgets and cost allocations. - Various positions within American President Lines, Ltd. Risk Management and Claims Departments involving claims management, claims and insurance auditing, overall reserve analysis and cost allocation.

1979 to 6/83 

Assistant Deputy Commissioner, 13th Compensation District - San Francisco, U. S. Department of Labor, Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Division. The title of this position is now District Director. The position involved oversight of the administration of the provisions of the U. S. Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and its extensions within Northern California, Arizona and Nevada. Involved in day to day aspects of the Act regarding claims handling, maintaining insurance records and custodian of all records related to claims made within the 13th Compensation District’s jurisdiction.

8/73 to 1979

Held claims examining positions within the U. S. Department of Labor involving claims under the U. S. Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act or the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act.

Graduate - Sonoma State University with a BA in Mathematics

Associate in Risk Management certification from the Insurance Institute of America

Past President of the Longshore Claims Association – Current member of the Board of Directors Lecturer and teacher at seminars and workshops regarding the Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, Over the road interchanged intermodal equipment liability claims, and Accident Investigation. Expert witness regarding U. S. Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act claims handling.
